Merry Fishmas Eve, we are expecting some snow & rain showers today with a winter advisory for Saturday from 5am to 5pm. Highs today around 50 in Mammoth Lakes, with lows in the 30’s. Highs on Saturday around 37 in Mammoth with a 42 in Crowley Lake. Snow is likely on Saturday down to 6000 feet with 1-3 inches possible around Hwy 395 and the Crowley area. Mammoth Lakes is forecast to pick up 4-8 inches with 10+ inches possible int he Lakes Basin and over Mammoth Mountain Ski area. By Sunday we start to warm up a bit and then next week things get spring like with highs in the upper 60s by Wednesday and Thursday

It’s April 18th, 2015 at 4:45 PM. Welcome to spring time here in Mammoth Lakes. Expect highs on Sunday near 62 here in Mammoth Lakes. Lows tonight in the low 30s with light N winds into Sunday. Over the new week we expect highs in the 50s/60s with lows in the 30s with more light SW winds. We will see a chance of showers each day Sunday thru Friday. Good news, with the Lakes Basin melted out the road and lakes basin bike path are 100% open for walkers, bikers, cars and hikers. The snow line is around 9200 feet, lower in shady spots. Spring and Wind on Mammoth Mountain | MammothSnowman.com

4-13-2015 – 8:08 AM – Welcome to Spring on Mammoth Mountain and thanks for stopping Mammoth Snowman.com. The window cast shows clear blue skies at this time with gusty winds to 38 MPH out of the SW over the top of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. For today we are expecting highs in the 50s around Main Lodge with 40s above the 10,000 foot level. Night time lows continue to be in the low 30s and then drop into the upper teens and 20s by Wednesday morning. Highs on Tuesday will drop into the 40s for highs before we get a spring warming trend in the area. Winds are out of the SW today with gusts expected in the 30-55 MPH range after lunch over the top of Mammoth Mountain. Gusts to 70+ are expected on Tuesday under a Red Flag warning and a high wind watch. Tuesday will be the day to stay off the mountain and go for mountain bike ride in the trees of Shady Rest.

We have clear skies today and we expect the same on Saturday with highs in the 30s & 40s with SW winds gusting to 35-50+ MPH over the higher elevations. I posted some images of what it looked like below. Our Snow base at this point is on the wane with a base of 6 to 50 inches out on the hill. The grooming crew is trying to save the base by pushing snow off of closed runs and out of the half pipe and slope style courses. Snow wise we are skiing and riding on machine groomed spring snow.
